Construction started in December 2007 with the demolition of an existing 24-story Poltegor structure. First design The project is on a property with an area of 27,362 square meters located near the centre of Wrocław - approximately 2.5 kms from the Main Square. Based on the first architectural plans, Sky Tower will be a residential, office and commercial complex consisting of 7 buildings with various heights and an aggregate surface area exceeding 260,000 square meters. One of the apartment buildings comprising Sky Tower will be more than 220 meters high and so it will be the highest residential building in Poland. The complex will contain a parking facility for more than 2,000 cars. Planned completion of the Sky Tower project was originally the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2010. Economical downturn Like many construction sites around the world, the Sky Tower has been affected and construction of the tower stopped. In November 2009 an investor, one of richest Poles Leszek Czarnecki, stated that the project would be redesigned with a lower height of at least 200 metres high. Construction work has started again.
