For the entire series, see Total Drama. Total Drama: Revenge of the Island (abbrebiated short as TDRI)[1] is the fourth season of the Total Drama franchise. The series' extension was commissioned by Teletoon from the producers, Fresh TV, Inc. The show will return to Camp Wawanakwa, the original setting of the first season, but with only thirteen new contestants. However, since the island has been abandoned for the past two seasons, the island has now been turned into a toxic nuclear waste dump, which is a perfect location for the most dramatic and brutal challenges.[2] This new season will have new rivals, new relationships, and the biggest drama yet and will be about half the length of a regular season. The purpose for this season is not just to start all over again, but to introduce the new cast to what the older contestants have gone through before. Total Drama: Revenge of the Island will air on Canada by Teletoon in the fall and will air in the U.S. by Cartoon Network this summer. At the end of the season, the winning contestant will win 1 million dollars. The competition is hosted by Chris McLean (Christian Potenza), who is assisted by the camp's chef, Chef Hatchet. At the beginning of the season, the thirteen campers are placed onto two teams, the Radioactive Rats and the Mutant Maggots. In each episode, the teams participate in a challenge, in which one or more campers can win invincibility for their team. The losing team is called to the elimination ceremony at night, where they vote one of their own members off the island. At the ceremony, McLean declares which contestants are safe by calling their name, while the one whose name is not called is eliminated from the game. About halfway through the season, the teams are disbanded, after which the challenges continue; the winner of each challenge then only receives invincibility for him or herself, whereupon a camper without invincibility is voted off the island. This process of elimination is continued on until two players remain on the island, where then they are subject to a final contest. At the end of the season one camper is crowned winner of the contest and is given the million dollars. Characters Unlike previous seasons, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island only features a new set of characters which are Lightning, Cameron, Mike, Jo, Scott, Dakota, Zoey, Staci, B, Ann Maria, Dawn, Sam and Brick.[4] Ann Maria is a tall and slight overweight girl who is a parody of Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi from the MTV series, Jersey Shore. B is a big guy who is very strong and smart, but can be shy when it comes to social conversations. Brick is a rude and rambunctious rebel who comes from the Armed Forces. Cameron is the main "nerd" or "geek" of the show. He and Sam are the only two people who wear glasses, and his appearance is very similar to Cody's. Dakota is a girl who is hungry for fame. She does anything she can to get famous, but she always fails. Dawn is a reassuring girl who used to be a therapist. She talks with a soft voice and often looks at the "bright side" of things. Jo is an athletic female who is very tough and similar to Eva. Lightning is also athletic, like Tyler. He is an over-achiever, which means he always does more than what is asked. Mike unfortunately has a disorder which makes him have multiple personalities. Sam is a generous prankster who obviously loves to pull pranks on people. Scott is a devious male who will do anything to win. Staci is a compulsive girl, and is usually known best for her lies. She loves to eat, which makes her overweight. Zoey is a fun-loving female who tries to be friends with everyone around her.[citation needed] It is unknown whether the new cast will have new audition tapes or whether the tapes will be shown. Cameos Although it is confirmed that the original contestants will not compete in this season, they will still have cameo appearances throughout the season. Christian Potenza first mentioned this on his FaceBook, but then Todd Kauffman officialy confirmed that one of the contestants from Total Drama Action will cameo on the fifth episode of this season.[5] The fifth episode is mostly likely not going to be an aftermath episode, so the original contestants will probably cameo throughout the challenges. Production Total Drama: Revenge of the Island was developed and produced by Fresh T.V. Inc. Since all the characters in this season are completely new, the studio had to hire several new voice actors to come and voice the new characters. However Brian Froud, the voice actor of Harold is returning to voice Sam, one of the new characters.[6] On March 25, 2011 all the shapes of all the 13 contestants were revealed in this video, although now it's not a big deal since all the final designs were released on Easter Sunday. On March 27, all the names and personalities of the contestants were revealed in a press release.[4] On April 5, 2011, Christian Potenza posted a youtube video of him recording the first line of Total Drama: Revenge of the Island. The quote was, "Camp Wawanakwa! Once a paradise on earth, now a radioactive dump! The perfect setting to drop a gang of teen-freaks and let 'em run wild! We're going back to the island, baby! A whole new set of campers. Each one more abnormal than the next. A whole new set of radioactive challenges! Insane, deranged, disgusting. These are just a few words that describe this season's high level of drama and another million dollar prize! Stay tuned for a brand new vengeful season of Total! Drama! Revenge of the Island!"[7] This line is used for the promotional trailer that Teletoon showed at the end of the TDWT finale, which was first released on April 24, 2011.
