Contents 1 History 2 Operations 3 References 4 External links History The Company was founded by John Morgan and Jack Lovell in 1977 and was initially based at Golden Square in Soho.[3] The Company secured a listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1994 when it entered into a reverse takeover of William Sindall plc.[4] William Sindall was a very old established and hugely respected name in the construction industry. William Sindall was established in the 1860's and was renowned for his quality work for the University of Cambridge. In 1988 William Sindall had acquired Hinkins & Frewin, a company established in 1847 and with a similar reputation for work for the University of Oxford, to create a truly Oxbridge construction group.[5] The business was regionally based and apart from offices in Oxford and Cambridge, it also had offices in Fareham[4], Banbury, London and Norwich. In 1998, Morgan Sindall bought Lovell Partnerships for £15m from the financially-stretched Lovell Group. The business was one of the largest partnership housing operations in the country, and it also contained a private housebuilding division.[6] In June 2007 Morgan Sindall Group purchased the Construction arm of AMEC.[7] In late 2010, it purchased the repairs division of the failing Connaught plc.[8] Operations The Company operates in the public and commercial sectors through four divisions of fit out, construction and infrastructure, affordable housing and urban regeneration, and an investment unit. The office design division (Morgan Lovell) designs, refurbishes and fits out offices for some of the UK’s largest companies. The firm’s client list includes Philips, Group 4 Securicor plc, BAE Systems and ITV. The construction and infrastructure arm (Morgan Sindall) provides a full construction service for both public and private sector clients within all market sectors. The firms client list includes education providers, NHS trusts, transport and commercial organisations.
