It serves grades 9 through 12 and is a part of the Berkeley County School District. The current principal is Glenda Levine. The mascot of Hanahan is the hawk. Hanahan High School participates in athletics in Region 6-AA. The school has won several state championships. In 1973, the baseball team won the Class AAA state championship. More recently, the softball team won the 2008 Class AA State Championship, and the wrestling team won the 2011 Class AA State Championship. The Hanahan Hawks football team had a region-winning streak of 46 games. That was the second longest streak in the state of South Carolina (1st was Stratford High School, 51 games).
