K. Rowling". Entrants were invited to submit the first paragraph of a children's book. A selection of these was then put to an online public vote, which Arnold subsequently won with her entry, entitled "A not very frightening ghost". She was signed by an agent, Kate Jones,[2][3] which then led to a publishing deal,[1] with her first novel The Invisible Friend being released in 2005.[4] "I was contacted by an agent and had to go for meetings which was very daunting because the industry was all new to me and I had little clue how it all worked...But I got lucky with the people I met and I realise how lucky I am to have this opportunity." "I was given a deadline of a year to write the book, which I delivered on time. I'm a bit of daydreamer so I needed that deadline to get me down to working."[1] Published works Golden & Grey (An Unremarkable Boy and a Rather Remarkable Ghost) (2005) Golden & Grey: The Nightmares That Ghosts Have (2006) Golden & Grey: A Good Day for Haunting (2008) In England, the title instead of An Unremarkable Boy and a Rather Remarkable Ghost is: The Invisible Friend Interviews Spotlight on Louise Arnold References Notes ^ a b c d Oakes, Keily (2005-07-13), BBC winner realises writing dream, news.bbc.co.uk, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4672991.stm, retrieved 2008-12-30  ^ "Kate Jones", The Daily Telegraph (London), 2008-02-07, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1577748/Kate-Jones.html, retrieved 2008-12-30  ^ Franklin, Andrew (2008-02-06), "Kate Jones: Literary agent with flawless taste", The Independent (London), http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/kate-jones-literary-agent-with-flawless-taste-778593.html, retrieved 2008-12-30  ^ Craig, Amanda (2005-07-16), Me and my shadow, London: timesonline.co.uk, http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article543985.ece, retrieved 2008-12-30  Bibliography External links The Invisible Friend Persondata Name Arnold, Louise Alternative names Short description Date of birth Place of birth Date of death Place of death This article about a children's author from the United Kingdom is a stub.
